Living on Auto-Pilot vs. Living Intentional.
Do you go through your daily life without conscious awareness or active decision-making? Pause before you answer this. Did you go directly to the mind or did you check in your with body?
Life teaches us listen to the mind which is full of shoulds and fear. It’s an easy go to, it’s right there waiting to provide us the answer we need. This is living on auto-pilot. It’s characterized by routines and habits, which I might say, aren’t always bad. The goal is to add intentionality to the routines and habits.
Let’s just stick with routines- those are something you fully create with intention and usually there is some sort of goal driving the routine. Habits are literally living on auto-pilot. You get out of bed, go to the restroom, brush your teeth, wash your face, head to the kitchen, start the coffee, etc. This requires no connection or thought. But, what if it did? What would it be like to wake up and pause to check in with yourself before you head into the restroom and the rest of your day? What would it be like to notice? How much more interesting would your life and day be? Just by simply pausing and noticing. Maybe even asking your body- Do I want coffee or do I want tea? Or whatever your preference is.
Living on auto-pilot can be comfortable and convenient, as it allows you to navigate through your day without much effort or conscious engagement. However, it comes with certain drawbacks. When you live on auto-pilot you miss out on growth, self-discovery and meaningful experiences. It can lead to a lack of fulfillment and a feeling of being disconnected from your own life.
We’re all placed on this earth with purpose. Each and every one of us! If we’re living on auto-pilot were not living out our purpose, because when you’re living out your purpose your life is fully LIT! You feel in FLOW! You’re MAGNETIC! You are actively engaged with the present moment and make choices that contribute to your overall well-being and personal growth.
While there may be periods in life where auto-pilot is necessary or unavoidable, such as busy days or stressful times, it’s important to periodically step back and assess whether you’re living in alignment with your true desires and values. Cultivating mindfulness and self-reflection can help you break-free from auto-pilot mode and live more intentionally.
Ultimately, the choice between living on auto-pilot and living intentionally depends on what you seek from life. If you value personal growth, meaning, and fulfillment, living intentionally is likely to lead to a more satisfying and purposeful existence.
