Your body should have hold of the steering wheel.

As an embodiment coach, I’m constantly encouraging and training humans to be more connected to the body or as I like to say to be more embodied. Live and speak from a place that is embodied.

The world that we live in now keeps us in a very “heady” space. We gain most of our information through our phones. We are conditioned for things to occur instantly. And we’ve adapted to a lifestyle of instant gratification. All of this being taken in and processed through our minds. Which means, our minds are holding the steering wheel.

However, our minds are not designed to know what’s correct for our life. The mind is meant to be the passenger. As the passenger the mind notices, collects images, shares perspectives, and lives creatively. It’s along for the ride. The correct role of the mind is to sit back and enjoy the ride and let the body do the work. The body is designed with intelligence that helps you navigate life and interact with the world.

When we speak from a place of “I feel like…” it’s a mental judgement and it’s not coming from an embodied place. Your stuck. A shift needs to occur. An awareness needs to be created in the body. Here are some examples on how to create awareness with the body: standing up and shaking it out, deep breathing, body tapping, tense and release the muscles. When speaking on the body you’ll say, “My body is…., The body is…”. Be curious on how you’re “being” rather than describing what you are doing in the body. Bring awareness back to yourself. Notice your body when you say… Ask yourself: What’s the architecture of my posture? How do I move? What do I notice about my muscles? Is my body more of a YES or NO here? How’s my breathing? Am I holding my breath?

When we lack awareness, we lack choice. Knowing yourself is the path to loving yourself.

Start turning on from the neck down. Listen to your body when it whispers to you. Often times aches, pains, illness can be avoided by simply listening to our body when it signals to us.

Stay Magnetic,

Melissa
