Let’s talk Acceptance.

Without acceptance we become resentful control freaks. And when we’re trying to control things, we’re literally driving with the breaks on.

We do this to ourselves. We don’t need to live our lives with the breaks on. The best way to step out of this resistance is acceptance.

Where do you start first? I like to start with the body. Bring some awareness to your breath, what’s happening when you’re in this place of “holding tight”? What’s happening with your posture? How about your hands? This noticing allows you to connect deeper to your internal resources (the body) that gives you clues as to what to do next, or maybe not do.

Ask yourself, what can be changed? What needs to be accepted? Say YES out loud to that thing you’ve chosen to accept. What do you notice differently about your posture?

Acceptance is a global issue we all struggle with. It keeps us wound up tight and stuck in a habitual story loop. When it comes to our own emotions, we can struggle with acceptance, due to messages we received around certain emotions growing up. That’s a story loop that keeps us stuck. The reason it keeps us stuck, is because it’s not our story- and our authentic being is rejecting it. The more awareness we bring to our own inner wisdom (the body’s knowing) the more connected we are to our true self.

Ask yourself, are there certain emotions I’m not ok with? They bring a level of discomfort. Maybe you try to swallow them, or cover them up with an addiction (food, drugs, sex, shopping etc).

If you were more accepting, how might your life be different. How about your energy levels. In exploring this thought, what do you notice about your posture now?
